Right: Photograph of the squat lobster Galathea strigosa (L.) by Gordon Fletcher.

Squat lobsters are often found in crevices and cracks between boulders. This example (Galathea strigosa), however, is quite active, and often found in more exposed locations. It can grow up to 10 cm long, and is characterised by its electric blue markings.

A squat lobster, up close and personal. The electric blue markings can be seen on the carapace.
